Ukraine will not impose any restrictions on grain exports

On December 21, 2020, the traditional meeting of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture with leading agro associations was held with the participation of Deputy Ministers of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky and Taras Kachka.

Representatives of the Ministry assured that the export volumes are in line with the agreements reached under the Memorandum between the Ministry and the leading industry associations, and therefore no restrictions on grain and oilseeds exports will be initiated by the government. The Ukrainian Grain Association stressed that business continue to adhere to the volume export reached under the Memorandum.

Ukraine will continue to meet its commitments on grain exports and food security around the world. As of December 18, 2020, according to the Ministry, Ukraine exported 23.8 million tons of grain, including 12.2 million tons of wheat, 3.7 million tons of barley, and 7.5 million tons of corn.

On July 1, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and major grain market associations signed a Memorandum of Understanding on grain market positions for the 2020/2021 marketing year. On August 17, the parties also signed an Annex to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy and grain market participants in the 2020/2021 marketing year in which they agreed on the maximum volume of wheat exports – 17.5 million tons in the 2020/2021 MY.
