In the first month of 2019, the general cargo turnover in the seaports of Ukraine increased by 3.4% compared with the same month last year, and totaled 11.1 mln tonnes, declared the State Enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) on February 14.
In particular, the transshipment of export cargoes totaled 8.7 mln tonnes (up 12.5%). At the same time, the shipment volumes of grain cargoes totaled 3.8 mln tonnes (up 21.1%).
Also, the transshipment of import cargoes decreased by 23.3% compared with January 2018, and totaled 1.6 mln tonnes.
The Kherson Commercial Sea Port increased the rates of cargo handling by more than 27%, and the Sea Commercial Port of Yuzhny — over 10%. Also, the seaports of Berdyansk, Chornomorsk, Odessa, Reni increased the transshipment volumes.
Generally, in January 2019 the Ukrainian seaports processed 856 vessels, down 57 units compared with January 2018.
