The European Union reduced oilseed processing in July-September

According to Oil World, during July-September, the processing volume of the three main oilseeds in the EU decreased by 2% compared to the corresponding figure of the previous season, from 12.08 to 11.85 million tons.

At the same time, the volume of soybean processing increased from 3.48 to 3.5 million tons, and rapeseed from 6.58 to 6.62 million tons due to high processing margins, but the volume of sunflower processing decreased from 2.02 to 1.74 million tons due to low carryover stocks and delayed harvesting of the new crop.

The total volume of sunflower processing in the EU in the 2024/25 MY decreased compared to the previous season from 9.32 million tons to the lowest level in the last 9 years of 7.47 million tons, with the largest reductions in processing in Bulgaria, France, Romania, Hungary and the Netherlands.

At the same time, the volume of soybean processing in the EU in 2024/25 MY increased by 7% to 15.5 million tons, in particular the production of soybean meal – from 18.4 to 22.2 million tons, which strengthened its position in the European feed market, partially displacing rapeseed and sunflower meal.

The volume of rapeseed processing in the EU in the 2024/25 MY decreased compared to the previous season from 25.98 to 25.12 million tons.
