Overall weather conditions observed in Ukraine during the second decade of April were satisfactory for the vegetation of major agricultural crops, but due to moderate heat accumulation, low daytime air temperatures, and the presence of frosts, the growth and development of agricultural crops proceeded somewhat slowly. This is indicated in the decade report of the UkrHydroMetCenter, as reported by agronews.ua.
“According to operational data, the transition of the average daily air temperature by 10°C towards an increase in the majority of the country’s territory during the decade has not yet occurred. Only in some areas of the southern, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk regions, and in Transcarpathia, it was noted in the second decade of April, close to the average long-term values, in places in the Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions – March 23-26 (three weeks earlier than the average long-term dates),” agrometeorologists point out.
They also added that the productive moisture reserves in the arable and meter soil layers under all crops in most areas were still sufficient and optimal.
However, in some areas of the southern regions, the productive moisture reserves under winter crops remained twice as low as the average long-term indicators for this period.
