UGA has started cooperation with the European Association COCERAL

On October 1, 2021, the Ukrainian Grain Association has started improved cooperation with the European Union Association COCERAL in order to implement European standards in the grain industry of Ukraine and expand trade with the EU. Within the framework of the Association Agreement with the EU, Ukraine is deepening cooperation and expanding trade and very important part of it is trade in grain and oilseeds, as well as products of their processing.

The Ukrainian Grain Association is the only specialized association from Eastern Europe represented in COCERAL, being not a representative of a member state of the EU. UGA’s activity in the international scale is a natural part of UGA’s active work for the benefit of Ukrainian grain.

“Ukraine’s involvement in the work of the European association COCERAL is a logical step for the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in the agricultural sector. Such cooperation will allow UGA members to better understand the specifics of EU policy and regulatory framework to improve trade with EU countries and help to adapt the domestic regulatory framework to EU standards,” said UGA President Nikolay Gorbachov.

According to the agreement, UGA representatives will take an active part in COCERAL working groups on biotechnology, organic group, harvest forecasting within the COCERAL committee on market and agricultural policy, as well as on food and feed safety.

Also as part of the joint work, UGA will have access to COCERAL’s information and news on the EU market situation, statistics, feed (scientific, technical and regulatory information), food legislation, GMO technologies, biotechnology, organic agriculture and plant protection products.

Ukrainian Grain Association – an association of producers, processors and exporters of grain, which annually exports about 90% of Ukrainian grain products, the main purpose of which is to promote the formation and development of the national grain market in Ukraine, as well as the formation of necessary organizational, economic, legal and social conditions for the development of business in the grain market in Ukraine.
