Australia’s 2025/26 canola production exceeded initial expectations, reaching 7.65 million tonnes, above the 7.23 million tonnes forecast by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural Resources, Economics, and Science (ABARES) on December 2. Production in Western Australia is expected to reach an all-time high.
This was reported by Chinese analytics company SunSirs, citing a consulting report on the canola market.
Canola production in Australia reached 7.65 million tonnes, exceeding expectations by 420,000 tonnes, or 5.8%. Production in Western Australia has reached an all-time high, which will significantly increase the supply of raw material for meal. Increased supply could lead to lower spot prices, and if demand does not grow in sync, the market faces the risk of oversupply.
News of better-than-expected harvest volumes has exacerbated the decline in prices in the market, and combined with a global increase in oilseed production and a lack of positive demand pressure, analysts predict further price declines.
