Winter plants have quite good regenerative ability in Ukraine

Winter plants have quite good regenerative ability when growing. It was proved by the results of analysis of monolith samples selected on February 22 by scientists of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NAAS), reported the press-service of NAAS on February 26.

“The degree of wintering of plants of optimal sowing dates on average for varieties is 98-99% of plants and 97.2% of footstalks. Currently, the condition of winter crops is satisfactory and good, ” – the message says.

Further care for winter grain plants will be based on their physiological state during the renewal of spring vegetation (average multiyear date – April 4), plant development, weather conditions as well as resource provision of farms.

“The phytosanitary condition of winter grain crops is currently mostly good. However, septoria and helminthosporiosis are observed on the leaf blades of the lower layer of winter barley. The spread of mouse-like rodents is insignificant this year and it does not exceed the economic threshold of harmfulness”- the experts added.
