In 2019/20 MY, the river transportation of agricultural products exceed 5 mln tonnes that was almost 2 times higher compared to the result of the previous season. Moreover, the figure achieved is not the limit, declared the President of the Ukrainian Grain Association, Nikolay Gorbachov on June 25.
“To my mind, the volume could be as high as 10 mln tonnes. However, we need to pay our attention to several critical factors and the most important is the financing of sluices maintenance”, – N.Gorbachov supposed.
He pointed out that Ukraine has problems with sluices maintenance as the financing comes in the end of the year and no one manages to spend it. It is necessary to schedule the processing time to be able to close the sluices for repairs.
“The sluices should operate in a time of high flow of cargos and they should be closed for repairs in the summertime after it is agreed with all participants of business process”, – N.Gorbachov added.
