India remains top export destination for Ukrainian agricultural products

India has maintained its position as the largest single market for Ukrainian agricultural exports during the first nine months of 2018, accounting for over 10% of all exports.  India’s January-September 2018 agricultural imports from Ukraine totaled USD 1.404 billion.

This is in line with the recent trend that have seen Asian countries emerge as the leading markets for Ukrainian agricultural produce. During the first three quarters of the current year, Asian countries accounted for 43.8% of Ukraine’s overall agricultural exports, with a total value of USD 5.7 billion. Meanwhile, the EU purchased USD 4.1 billion of Ukrainian agricultural products over the same period, representing 31.5% of the total volume.

In terms of individual countries, the Netherlands occupied second place behind India in the list of Ukrainian agricultural produce importers with USD 780 million in imports. China (USD 740 million) was in third place, followed by Egypt (USD 721 million), Spain (USD 598 million), Turkey (USD 541 million) and Italy (USD 540 million).
