Back to all news

Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian farmers have received more than 231,000 hectares of surveyed and cleared of mines agricultural land from deminers. Of these, more than 30,500 hectares were handed over to agricultural producers in September. This was reported by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

“In September, deminers returned more than 30,500 hectares of surveyed, cleared or demined land to farmers ready for use. This is one and a half times more than in August. In addition, in September, we had a historic event – the first auctions in the Prozorro system for the provision of agricultural land demining services took place. We hope that soon the land cleared by the winners of the auctions will be added to the statistics of cleared areas,” said Svyrydenko.

In total, since the beginning of the year, deminers have surveyed more than 257,000 hectares of land.

Most of the land has been surveyed in the following regions:

  • Kherson region: 26,200 hectares in September, 210,700 hectares since the beginning of the year;
  • Kharkiv region: 2,600 hectares in September, 20,100 hectares since the beginning of the year;
  • Mykolaiv region: 1,900 hectares in September, 14,000 hectares since the beginning of the year.

In September, 71 mechanical demining machines and 684 demining teams – more than 4,200 specialists – were involved in humanitarian demining and rapid response.
