Back to all news

severe flooding in the States of the Midwest United States Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota have caused considerable damage to farmers.

Rivers burst their banks and fields have turned into lakes, swift streams carried a herd of cattle, huge ice blocks broke at home and business premises.

Unprecedented floods that struck the United States, caused huge damage to farmers and ranchers who were suffering from difficult economic situation. Trump’s trade policy has led to a significant loss of income and the increase in the number of bankruptcies. According to the Us Bureau of farms, last year the number of farmers who have applied for protection from creditors under bankruptcy law, grew up in the Midwest, 19% that became the maximum for the last 10 years. Most of them have now lost their cattle and property.

Awakened by rivers washed away roads and roads which transported goods flooded the small town, led to mass evacuations and the death of at least 3 people. Rapid flow does not allow farmers access to animals to provide them with food.

Experts believe that to consider the losses from the flood is still too early, however, according to preliminary estimates, Director of the Department of agriculture of Nebraska Steve Wellman, bad weather will cost farmers in the state more than $ 400 million. Farmers report that the recovery will take months or years, the residents of the region need immediate Federal assistance.
