Ukraine will grow about 100 million tons of grain by 2020 – UGA

Back to all news

According to forecasts of the Ukrainian Grain Association, the gross harvest of grain crops can reach 100 million tons in Ukraine by 2020.  UGA President Nikolay Gorbachov informed during the press conference on December 19. He added that the export of Ukrainian grain by the specified time is expected at the level of 70 million tons.

«Such a crop will be achieved due to an increase in the yield of cereals. I want to note that 10 years ago the highest yield recorded in the southern and central regions of Ukraine, whereas today, according to these indicators, the western regions of the country are leading due to the improvement of climatic conditions» – N. Gorbachov explained.

As noted the expert, these changes led to a significant difference in the agrarian infrastructure of these regions. He added that the most of the elevators are located in the eastern and central regions of Ukraine, while the infrastructure in the western regions of the country is not so developed.
