UKRAINE FINISHED SPRING SOWING CAMPAIGN

According to the preliminary data by APK-Inform Agency, the sowing areas of the agricultural crops in Ukraine in 2019 total 27.7 mln ha which is the same to 2018, reported the press-service of the Ministry of Agrarian Police and Food of Ukraine on June 3.

In particular, the grain crops were sown on 14.8 mln ha, the industrial crops – on 9.2 mln ha which is also the same to the previous year results. In recent years the sowing areas structure was optimized and it is not undergoing major changes.

“Considering the spring field work and the wintering of the crops we can expect that the harvest of the early grains of 2019 will not be lower than the last year’s. The high harvest is the result of the dynamic development of the all agriculture production levels, among which the provision of the agrarians by the modern plant varieties is one of the most important. Ukrainian plant breeders constantly working to develop new varieties with high productivity, adaptability to stress factors, such as high illness resistance, winterhardiness, heat-tolerance and drought resistance” – explained the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vladimir Topchii.
